The Metropolitan Community Clinic at Helliniko conducted 1089 patient visits in July and August 2016.  Psychologists saw 74 patients.  Our dentistry saw 53 adult patients, of whom 11 were refugees and 7 children.  We arranged for five cases requiring an endodontist for refugees who needed this work urgently.  The cases were taken on by a private doctor who volunteers with us.
With the help of labs working with us, we were able to provide:

  • Blood analysis – 29 patients
  • Imaging tests performed by outside clinics -7 patients
  • Specialized eye exams – 3 patients
We received donations of medicine and medical material from:

  1. 320 Individuals in Greece
  2. 14 Individuals from France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany who regularly assist with the needs of MCCH. Among those, may purchase medications and baby formula with money saved that would otherwise be spent on gifts for holidays.
  3. A group that supports our clinic from Geneva Switzerland
  4. A group that supports our clinic from Hamburg Germany
  5. Friends and supporters of our clinic from Melbourne. Australia
  6. Six initiatives of citizens groups from Greece
  7. Four unions from various sectors in Greece
  8. Five municipal services from throughout the country.
  9. One company
The pharmacy, in addition to distributing medication to our own patients provided support with donations of medicine and medical supplies to:

  • 17 Other volunteer community clinics throughout the country
  • Two Health Centers
  • Four hostels and organizations supporting the homeless
  • Two organizations for the handicapped
  • Seven patients in detention
  • One hospital
  • Nine organizations supporting those without resources and in need.
  • Nine organizations hosting refugees covering 46 different cases and requests for assistance.
And finally, we distributed medication in 38 cases of patients with welfare booklets whose need for medication could not be covered since the recent law concerning them not having to make co pays has not yet put into effect.
We were visited by a journalist form Hellenic Nexus as well as a Swedish journalist.
The radio program “Solidarity on Air” of the Metropolitan Community Clinic Helliniko which is aired on First Program (ERT) every Saturday from 15:00 – 15:30, throughout Greece on 91.6 and 105.8 FM (aired in Greece, in Greek)
The Metropolitan Community Clinic at Helleniko is a volunteer clinic providing cost-free primary health care to the uninsured, the unemployed who are without resources. We believe that that ALL should have equal and cost free access to the public health system.
